This was a full outdoor overhaul for a homeowner in Shakopee. The scope covered two things - a custom pergola build off the back of the house, and a complete rock landscaping refresh all the way around the home. Old rock was hauled out, beds were cleaned up, and fresh stone was laid in its place.
The pergola turned out sharp. Heavy timber posts, a solid roof structure, and string lights already hung and ready to use. The covered patio space underneath is big enough for a grill setup, dining table, and still plenty of room to move around. It's the kind of outdoor space that actually gets used.
On the landscaping side, we pulled out the old rock that had seen better days and replaced it around the entire perimeter. The new river rock beds follow the natural curves of the yard, framing the house cleanly on every side. Perennials and shrubs are spaced throughout the beds so there's color and texture without it looking overplanted.
The side yards got the same treatment - fresh rock, clean edging, and a nice uniform look that ties everything together. It's low-maintenance going forward, which is a big reason a lot of homeowners in the Shakopee area make the switch from mulch to rock in the first place. Less weeding, less replacement, cleaner curb appeal year after year.
The client was thrilled with how it came together, and honestly it's hard not to be. When the landscaping and the structure are done right at the same time, the whole backyard reads like one intentional space instead of a collection of random additions.
