What a Good Wall Does

Retaining walls for southwest-metro yards: engineered for the grade, built from concrete block, stone, or brick, and scoped in writing before the first course is set. A good wall does two jobs at once. It holds the grade, and it looks like it belongs.

Most wall failures are water failures, so the part you never see is the part we scope first. The wall has to hold its line through a Minnesota winter, and it should look good doing it.

Built to Hold

What's included in a wall build.

  • One company, start to finish. Consultation, design, materials, and installation, with one point of contact from the first sketch to the final walkthrough.
  • Concrete block, stone & brick. We source the material, and we stand behind what we set.
  • Built for the grade. Base depth and setback are sized to the slope the wall has to hold, not guessed from the curb.
  • Drainage built in. Backfill that drains, so freeze and thaw have somewhere to go besides the back of the wall.
  • Shape, color & texture. Finishes picked to sit right against the house and the yard around it.
  • The 24-hour promise. Licensed and insured in Minnesota. If a course misses the standard, tell us and it's made right within 24 hours.

How It Goes

Four steps, engineered and inspected.

  1. 01

    Consultation & estimate

We walk the slope and look at where the water goes before we price anything. The quote covers the dig, the base, the drainage, and the block you see.

  2. 02

    Design & material selection

We settle the structure and the materials together, with real prices next to each option. You decide with the numbers in front of you.

  3. 03

    The build

Excavation and base first, then block set course by course and checked level as the wall climbs.

  4. 04

    Inspection & walkthrough

We check the wall against the scope you approved, then walk it with you. Anything that misses gets fixed before we call it done.

Common Questions

Frequently asked

What does a retaining wall do for my yard?

It holds ground that wants to move. A slope stops washing into the lawn, and you get flat, usable yard above or below the wall.

What materials do you build with?

Concrete block, natural stone, and brick. We'll tell you plainly which holds up best in a Minnesota freeze and what each one costs.

Do you handle drainage?

Yes. Trapped water is how most walls fail, so drainage is designed in from the start, not patched in later.

How fast can I get an estimate?

In writing, usually within a day.

Who will be doing the work?

Our own crew — no subcontractors. Trained, insured, and led by the same person who scoped your job.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Licensed and insured in Minnesota, and the certificate is available before work begins.

Your Written Quote

Tell us about the property. We'll put your price in writing.

Height, soil and drainage decide what a wall costs, and none of that can be judged from a screen. We walk the site first — it is the only way to give you an honest number. A person reads every one of these, not a queue.
