What Good Pruning Does

Pruning and shaping for shrubs and hedges across the southwest Twin Cities metro: deadwood out, growth directed, every cut timed to the species' season. We prune for shape and for health, and those are different cuts: a lilac sheared in fall skips a spring of bloom, but cut right after it flowers, it comes back fuller.

Every visit starts with the dead and damaged wood, then the shape goes back in with selective cuts rather than one blind shearing. The trimmings leave when we do.

A personal consultation

No call centers. Price your shrubs yourself in about a minute, then we walk the beds with you and put the price in writing. The consultation is free — shrub trimming and pruning carries a $150 minimum, plus tax.

No phone tag, no pressure. We're a Shakopee company, locally owned, and we've held the same standard since 2020. We're not after a one-off job — we want a relationship with you and your property, season after season.

Every Shrub, Shaped

What's included in a pruning.

  • Shaping and hedging. Forms and hedge lines cut back to the shape they were planted for, visit after visit.
  • Selective cuts. Thinning where the species wants it, so the shrub blooms instead of just regrowing.
  • Deadwood out. Dead and diseased wood cut all the way back to healthy growth.
  • Timing by species. Each shrub gets cut in its window, not whenever it's convenient to swing by.
  • Care notes. Plain instructions left after each visit, plus what to watch as it grows back.
  • No need to be home. Give us access to the beds and we handle the rest.

The Promise, In Practice

“Kevin and his crew have maintained my yard for years — spring cleanups, dethatching, mulching, trimming hedges. One especially wet year a piece of equipment left a small divot. Kevin came back that same day, filled it with dirt, and laid new sod without me having to say anything. Having him local to the Prior Lake / Shakopee area makes it easy.”

Common Questions

Frequently asked

Why prune my shrubs?

It keeps the shape you planted for and takes dead or diseased wood out before trouble spreads. A shrub pruned on its schedule blooms harder than one sheared at random.

When is the right time to prune?

Spring bloomers get pruned right after they flower; summer bloomers in late winter. We keep the calendar so you don't have to.

Do I need to be home?

No. If we can reach the beds, we handle the visit whether you're there or not.

Will you tell me how to care for them after?

Yes. Every visit ends with care notes: what was cut, and when the next round is due.

How does pricing work for shrubs?

We price shrub trimming per shrub by height — $30 for anything under 5 ft, $60 from 5 to 10 ft, $100 over 10 ft — so you can add it up yourself on this page. Hauling the clippings is included. The consultation is free, shrub trimming and pruning carries a $150 minimum, plus tax, and we confirm the price in writing before we start.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Licensed and insured in Minnesota. Details are on our About page.
